Getting access to the
NPS Curriculum Web Site ?

Firstly, let us welcome you to the NPS
National Prescribing Curriculum (the NPC) web site.

The NPC is intended as an interactive on-line learning environment which encourages the development and practise of rational prescribing skills.

This NPC site contains two components .. one designed for medical students and the other  for medical Interns. These are clearly identified on the Splash page; to enter simply click on on the respective label to access the student or intern areas.

People visiting this site may log in as an authorised User or as a Visitor.

Users will have been allocated a User Name and Password  by their respective University.

Authorised Users
will have access to all available Curriculum modules in either the student or Intern site as appropriate. Authorised Users include students or interns, tutors, authors and the web development team. Where you are allowed to go within the site will be defined by the user name and passwords allocated.  Different types of users have access to different areas of the site, for example students cannot access the web statistics area of the site.

Users working through the modules should simply select modules by clicking on the menu items listed on the left hand menu with their mouse. Work through the modules by following screen prompts and links or by selecting other items from the menu item. There are also links to the My Formulary and My Notes areas at the top  of the screens. Access to the Discussion area (Forum) is also found on the left menu.

To Exit the Curriculum web site Authorised Users should simply Close their browser. This can be done from anywhere n the module. Please note that if the program is closed before confirming  changes to Prescriptions, My Formulary, My Notes or the Drug Ranking Matrix , any changes will be lost.

Visitors
can enter the site by specifying the User Name: visitor; and the Password: visitor. So Visitors should simply type visitor  when prompted for a user name and password. Visitors have access to the COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) module only of the medical student site and the Diabetes module and the Endocarditis modules only of the Intern Site.  Visitor modules are fully functional except for the Prescribing screens for which the functionality has been limited for demonstration purposes.

To Exit the Curriculum web site, Visitors also should simply Close their browser.

Note: The Web site is best viewed with IE5.5 or  above or Netscape 6 or above and with screen resolutions set at 800 x 600 dpi or above.
